Built on the core of a recent generation sand-crawler, this motley assortment of mobility techniques was put together by a tribe of jawas trapped in the rocky southern hemisphere of Tatooine, where cooler climes are more common due to higher altitude, and sand storms are rare.
In these rocky regions, wheels are an adequate form of mobility, but being able to go over boulders is a must if you want to reach the choicest starship crashes first.
To this end, a mad Jawa named Likti Uc set about converting the ruins of a sandcrawler destroyed near the old home of Luke Skywalker with parts scavanged from downed republic vehicles.
Most of the damage to the surface was haphazardly repaired, and the destroyed treads were entirely removed.
In place of this form of drive system, a single short leg from a clone-wars relic AT-TE was placed just under the nose of the machine, to allow it to push down on rock outcrops and alift up, allowing it's three pairs of wheels (from a Juggernaught-class assault transport left in the same supply ship wreckage the leg came from) to gain a "footing on top of the rocks.
Two AT-AT legs that were scavanged from a battle between Jabba the Hutt's thugs and a contingent of imperial walkers help walk this monster forward until the solid, mostly tread-less wheels can move it on their own, then fold up against the rear of the machine, and await a call to go to a lower elevation.
Finally, an LAAT that once served the republic garrison in Mos Espa surrendered one of its's ball turrets for a retrofit defense/hunting cannon that the jawas inside control remotely to shoot down large avains and dissuade humans in skyhoppers and cloudcars from straffing them for fun.
The sandwanderer is an ugly brite whose sole benefits are a small semblance of defense and a boost in speed versus other clan transports. Given the haphazard repairs, over-boosted engines, new nuclear reactor (the structure on top) and it's uneven and shakey legs and wheels, it would not be a fun place to live for a human.
EDIT: sorry the picture has that huge space bellow it, and the graph paper shows in the scan. this isn't the type of paper I like to use, so the scanner isn't accounting for it like it should. I'll keep a better look out for flaws like that in future posts. Also, sorry it took so long to get this out.
Nice work as always Draco. I always wondered how those things would get across the rough areas. I didn't think everything was level ground... though this is a desert planet. Keep up the good work, and I might color one of these for you in the future if you want.

Most just trundle around on the sand. I've read a few books where the author uses this very weakness to manipulate those inside into going where they need to for the plot, so I wanted to give the little guys another option... this thing was that brain fart.
